The Poem

Mi hermano se casó ayer. Por fin. Así que esta va a ser la primera de una serie de entradas sobre su boda o cosas relacionadas. También será, quizás, la primera y última vez que haya una foto mía en este blog, pero la ocasión lo merece ;P. Me tocó ser el Padrino, y como todo el mundo sabe (o almenos aquí en Cataluña es costumbre), el Padrino le compra el ramo a la novia y además le escribe una poesía que le lee cuando va a darle el ramo. Y como a mi me gusta cumplir las misiones que me son encomendadas le escribí la siguiente poesía: El gran misterio de la humanidad: ¿es la predestinación un hecho? o elegir el destino nuestro derecho, y decidirlo hasta la eternidad Se debate en cualquier oportunidad, mas a poca gente deja satisfecho ya que no suele ser de provecho discutir en donde hay inseguirdad Pero siempre existe la excepción, el caso en que no cabe ninguna duda y que no es posible otra concepción, Una verdad tan cierta y aguda que es una tautología sin más opción, como la Gravedad, si el ejemplo ayuda. Habra gente que podría preguntarse que es eso a lo que me refiero, mas hoy no hace falta ser ingeniero para caer en ello y percatarse: de blanco estás, como cabiera esperarse, el dia destinado desde aquel primero en el que Él, como un maestro relojero, creó a los humanos para emparejarse. Y decir debo que es una suerte, no solo para el que es mi hermano, porque de ahora hasta nuestra muerte estarás en algún lugar no muy lejano para compartir y aún más conocerte. Y eso es bueno. Yo lo se de antemano. Tiene estructura de dos sonetos pero no lo son, ya que los versos no son endecasílabos. Estoy demasiado acostumbrado a escribir en prosa y los versos me saían demasiado largos, son cosas que pasan ^_^'. Menos mal que tenía la poesía imprimida y se la di a Judit para que la llevara a la boda, porque algún gracioso (creo que Marcos XD) empezó a decir: "que hable el Padrino! que hable el Padrino!" y, aunque lo había pensado, no había escrito ningún discurso así que elegí el recurso fácil de leer la poesía :). Me dieron un micro y listo. Quizás alguien lo haya grabado en video, pero lo desconozco.

My brother got wed yesterday. At last. So this is going to be the first of a series of posts about his wedding or stuff realted to his wedding. And maybe it will be the first and last time that a photo of me is posted in this blog, but the ocasion deserves it ;P. I was appointed to be the Godfather, and like everyone knows (or at least here in Catalonia is usual) the Godfather buys the flowers bouquet and writes a poem that he reads to her when he goes to bring her the bouquet. Yo lo se de antemano. It has the structure of two sonets but they are not, the verses have more than 11 syllabes. I'm too used in writing prose and the verses came out too long, this things happens ^_^'. It's a good thing that I had the poem printed and I gave it to Judit for her to take it to the wedding, because some funny guy (I think it was Marcos XD) started to say: "we want the Godfather to talk! we want the Godfather to talk!" and, even I thought about that, I hadn't wrote a speech so I choosed the easy way: to read the poem :). They gave me a microphone and we were set. Maybe someone taped it on video, but I'm not aware of that.

Google Reader

Hacía tiempo que quería hacer una entrada sobre Google Reader, para explicarle al mundo la utilidad de esta gran herramienta.Google Reader es el gestor de RSS Feeds de Google. Pero que es eso de RSS Feeds? Pues la verdad es que realmente no hace falta saberlo para poder usar Google Reader, si alguien está interesado que use el link y lea lo de la wikipedia ;P. Lo único que hay que saber es que hay ciertos tipos de página que emiten RSS Feeds cuando se actualizan y cada vez que eso pasa, si se está subscrito a algún servicio como Google Reader, te manda un aviso. Y que tiene eso de bueno? Pues que se puede acabar lo de tener que ir mirando página por página para ver si nuestros blogs favoritos (o páginas de noticias, o webcomics), con ir a la página de Google Reader (a la cual podemos acceder directamente desde Gmail) ahí tendremos todo lo que hayamos añadido. La interfaz es bastante sencilla, y la forma de agregar las páginas también. Sólo hay que copiar la dirección de la página en cuestión (http://flagard.blogspot.com/, por ejemplo) darle a Add subscription (o su equivalente en castellano), poner ahí la dirección en cuestión y darle a add (o su equivalente en castellano ;P). Y a partir de ahí ya es todo bastante parecido a Gmail: en formato de conversaciones, la forma de decirte que hay algo nuevo es muy parecido, etc etc. Tiene muchas otras opciones y cosas interesantes (como poder compartir lo que cada uno lee, a lo que llegas si le das a mi foto de al lado), pero eso ya lo dejaré para que lo descubráis vosotros mismos/as, no os lo voy a dar todo mascado ;P.

It's been a while since I wanted to write a post about Google Reader, to explain the world the usefulness of this great tool. Google Reader is Google's RSS Feeds manager. But what does RSS Feeds mean? Truth be told, is not really necessary to know it to be able to use Google Reader, if someone is interested just follow the link and read it in the wikipedia ;P. The only thing you need to know is that there are some kind of web sites that broadcasts RSS Feeds when they're updated and everytime that happens, if you are subscripted to some service like Google Reader, it warns you. And what is that good for? The good thing about that is that you can go to Google Reader website and access all your favorite blogs (or news websites, or webcomics) without having to wander around lots of websites. Besides you can access Google Reader from just inside Gmail, and there we will have all your added subscriptions. The interface is pretty easy to catch, and the way of adding subsprictions is easy as well. You just have to copy the url of the website you want added (for example http://flagard.blogspot.com/) click in Add subscription, and paste there the url and click on add. And all the rest is quite similar to Gmail: in conversation format, the way they tell you there something new is nearly the same, etc etc. It has a lot of options and interesting stuff (like sharing the things you read, you can see what I share if you click in the foto in the side), but I will leave that for you to investigate, I won't spoil that fun ;P

Transformers

Desde que era pequeño me ha gustado todo aquello que tuviera que ver con robots, mechs o cosas así. Por tanto es bastante normal que me gustaran (y me gusten) cosas como Batletech, Robotech o Transformers, por mencionar unas cuantas. Pero como bien dice el título hoy hablaré de una serie que marcó mi infancia y que el dia 4 estrenó película: Transformers. Aún recuerdo todos aquellos días que me levantaba para ir al colegio y ponía Antena 3 mientras desayunaba y en el programa de Rita Irasema veía Transformers: Generation 1 (aunque por aquel entonces los llamábamos sólo Transformers ^_^') y más adelante los Power Masters y Transformers Victory. Y ayer, a las 22:00 h, un día después del estreno, fui a ver Transformers. No esperaba mucho de la película, la iba a ver más por nostalgia y porque era sobre Transformers, no porque esperaba que fuera una gran película. La última película que había visto de Michael Bay, La Isla, me había parecido correcta, pero que podría haber sido mucho mejor si hubiera dado más juego al argumento. Pero hay que recordar también que es el director de La Roca (una película que me encanta), y eso se ve mucho en Transformers, muchos de planos, la acción trepidante, las bengalas (si, las bengalas XD). Me la ha recordado mucho. La película me ha gustado bastante, quizás debe de ser porque no soy un superfan de Transformers como algún amigo mio y por tanto los cambios que se han hecho para la película no me han afectado tanto y he podido disfrutar más, fijandome en la película en sí y no en lo fiel que pudiera ser a la serie o los comics. Tiene escenas muy buenas, unos planos con unas luces que dejan la boca abierta, /*He de reconocer que uno de los planos que más me gustaron fue uno que sale del ojo de Megan Fox y va abriendo el plano, con una luz bastante interesante también, hasta que se ve toda la cara mientras mira algo de interés*/, y los robots. Los robots (tanto autobots como decepticons) son impresionantes. Todos tenemos malas experiencias con robots gigantes gracias a los Power Rangers, donde el Mega Zord es un robot ortopédico que da mucha pena verlo. Pero los de esta película no. Se que es un tópico decir esto, pero parecen de verdad. Las peleas entre robots están increiblemente bien hechas, y las escenas con humanos y robots están también muy conseguidas. La película dura 144 minutos, pero merece la pena, además de que no se hace larga (no a mi al menos). Si te gusta el cine de acción o si alguna vez viste los Transformers cuando eras pequeño y te gustaban, no dejes de ir a verla.

Since I was a child I always liked all that had to do with robots, mechs or things like those. That being said, is quite normal that I liked (and I like) stuff like Batletech, Robotech or Transformers, just to mention some of them. But like the title of my post says today I'm going to talk about a cartoon that marked my childhood and the 4th premiered a movie: Transformers. I still remember those days I wope up to go to school and turned on the tv while I had my breakfast and in Rita Irasema's program I whatched Transformers: Generation 1 (we called them only Transformers by then ^_^') and later on the Power Masters and Transformers Victory. And yesterday, at 22:00 h, a day after the premiere, I went to watch Transformers. I did not expect too much, I went to watch it out of a nostalgia feeling and because it's about Transformers, I didn't expected it to be a great movie. I found The Island, the last movie I had seen by Michael Bay, just an ok movie, that could have been a lot better if with a more developed script. But we souldn't forget he's the director of The Rock (and I love that movie), and you can see that a lot in Transformers, a lot of the shots, the action-packed scenes, the flares (yeah, flares XD). It has reminded me a lot of The Rock. I've really liked the movie, and maybe is because I'm not a Transformers' superfan like some friend of mine and because of that, the changes that have been made hasn't affected me that much and I've been able to enjoy it more, watching the movie by itself and not by how faithful it could be in comparsion with the comics or the cartoon. It has very good scenes, some shots have a lighting that causes you to drop your jaw, /*I have to admit that one of the shots that liked the most was one in that starts in Megan Fox's eye, the shot gets wider, the lighting here is interesting too, until you can see her whole face while she is watching something interesting*/, and the robots. The robots (both autobots and decepticons) are astonishing. We all have bad experiences with giant robots thanks to Power Rangers, where Mega Zord is a lousy robot that gives a lame show. But not in this movie. I know this may sound as a cliché, but they feel real. The robots fights are incredibly well done, and the scenes with robots and humans too. The movie is 144 minutes long, but it's worth it. If you like action movies or if someday you saw Transformers when you were a kid and you liked them, you should go and see it.

Mr. Synbios goes to London

Los fans de Shakespeare reconoceréis esta imagen. Porque habéis estado allí o porque habéis visto Shakespeare in Love. Es el Globe, el teatro donde se representaron gran parte de las obras de Shakespeare. Me encanta Shakespeare, pero la entrada de hoy no va de eso, quizás en otra ocasión. La entrada de hoy va de que a finales de septiembre me voy a Londres porque el MEC ha sido tan amable de concederme una beca para estudiar inglés en el extranjero (me voy de vacaciones con el dinero del contribuyente, que genial XD) y he elegido Londres porque siempre he querido ir allí, me gustan las grandes ciudades y tengo que entrenar mi oido al acento británico, que me cuesta bastante más de pillarlo que el americano. Por qué digo que me voy de vacaciones? Pues porque, al fin y al cabo, el cursillo que tengo que hacer son sólo 3 semanas 3 horas al día y el resto del día lo tendré para hacer lo que me apetezca por allí. Ya tengo pensadas unas cuantas excursiones, como por ejemplo ir a ver el teatro que pone imagen a esta entrada, o desplazarme hasta Oxford para ver la tumba de Tolkien y muchas otras cosas que seguro que se me ocurrirán y si no se me ocurren a mi, seguro que ya habrá otras personas que me aconsejen. Ya se que aún falta bastante para que me vaya, pero quería informar de forma oficial (aunque se que mucha gente no lee esto y aún se sorprenderá cuando lo sepan XD) porque ya está todo bastante atado y es mas o menos definitivo. Llegado el momento, hablaré mucho inglés, echaré muchas fotos, beberé mucho te y me encantará el clima sin sol, pero por ahora seguiremos con el trabajo y la vida real.

All of you who are Shakespeare fans will recognize this picture. Because you have been there or because you have seen Shakespeare in Love. It's The Globe, the theatre where most of Shakespeare's plays where performed, but this post is not about that, maybe some other time. Today's post is about me going to London by the end of September thanks to the MEC, that has been kind enough to give me a scholarship to study english abroad (I'm going on vacation with taxpayer's money, how awesome is that XD) and I have choosen London because I've always wanted to go there, I love big cities and I have to train my ear to british accent, which I find harder than the american one. And why do I say that I'm going on vacation? Because, in the end, the course I'm taking is only 3 weeks long, 3 hours per day, so I will have the rest of the day to do whatever I want around there. I have already thought of a few trips, like, for example, going to visit the theatre that gives his image to this post, or going all the way to Oxford to see Tolkien's tomb and a lot of other things that I'm sure will come to my mind and, if they don't, there will be people who will suggest me some other places to visit. I know is not time for me to leave yet, but I wanted to give official word about this (altough I know a lot of people don't read this and will be surprised when they find out XD) because is almost sure I will go there. When the time comes, I will talk a lot of english, I will take a lot of pictures, I will drink a lot of tea and I will love the sunless weather, but, for now, we should go on with work and real life.

Happy Birthday Hugh

Hoy es el cumpleaños de Hugh Laurie, también es el cumpleaños de Kurenai, también es el día en que cayó Troya y muchas otras cosas que alargaría demasiado esta entrada. Pero volvamos con Hugh. Si, todos sabéis quien es, es el Dr. Gregory House, protagonista de la serie de television con su apellido como nombre. Me gusta mucho esa serie, pero si soy sincero no he visto nisiquiera la 3ª temporada, de hecho aun me falta por ver el último episodio de la 2ª. Esque son demasiadas series las que tendría que ver y no me da tiempo para todas ^_^'. Lo que quizas no sepáis algunos de vosotros es que Hugh Laurie apareció en un episodio de F·R·I·E·N·D·S allá por el final de la 4ª temporada. Y de hecho, básicamente hace de House XD. Para que visualiceis el momento del que os hablo, aquí os lo dejo gracias a nuestra página de videos favorita: El final es simplemente genial XDD. Lo que más me gusta de la serie es House mismo. Siempre he sido de un humor bastante irónico, rozando el sarcasmo, así que cuando vi la serie me encantó el personaje, además yo también soy brutalmente honesto :D. Supongo que son varias cosas las que tenemos en común ;).

Today is Hugh Laurie's birthday, it's Kurenai's birthday too, it's the day Troy fell and it's the day of a lot of this but this post could become too large. So back to Hugh. Yes, you all know him, is Dr. Gregory House, staring of the tv series with his surname as name. I like that tv series a lot, but to be honest I haven't seen the 3rd season yet, as a matter of fact, I haven't seen the last episode of the 2nd one. There are too many series I should see and I don't have enough time for all of them ^_^'. There is one thing maybe some of you don't know: Hugh Laurie was on an episode of F·R·I·E·N·D·S at the end of the 4th season. He basically acts as House XD. So, in order for you to see the moment I'm speaking of, I'm showing it right here, thanks to our favorite videos website: The end part is totaly awesome XDD. The thing I like most about the series is House himself. I've always had that ironic humor, a bit sarcastic too, so when I saw the series, I loved the character. I'm brutaly honest too :D, so there's some things we have in common ;).

El Fútbol

Odio el fútbol. Mucho. No siempre ha sido así, antes realmente me daba un poco igual. Cada uno hacía su vida, sin molestar al otro. Pero todo empezó a ir mal cuando por culpa de partidos de fútbol me quitaban capítulos de F·R·I·E·N·D·S. Todos aquí sabéis ya lo mucho que me gusta F·R·I·E·N·D·S y si no, deberíais repasar mi blog y mi espacio, porque ya hay más de dos entradas sobre F·R·I·E·N·D·S. Todo se complica cuando en este país es el deporte rey y nada prevalece en el caso de que haya un partido considerado importante. Como pasó el otro día. Os pongo en situación: miercoles, 21:45 de la noche. Como es sabido, ese dia a esa hora, Tv3 emite Herois (que no es ni más ni menos que Heroes en catalán). Pero para el día 30/05/07 Tv3 nos tenía preparada una sorpresita: partido de fútbol, Barça - Getafe, creo. Digo creo porque no me paré a mirar quien jugaba, simplemente vi que no ponían Herois, me indigné y apagué la tele. Y menos mal que ya he visto Heroes, no me quiero imaginar lo mal que lo debieron pasar aquellos que aún no han visto los capítulos y han tenido que esperar una semana más para Spoiler! (haz click para verlo)ver a Hiro viajar 6 meses al pasado para intentar salvar a Charlie. ¿Por qué tienen que hacer eso? Quitar algo para poner fútbol. Eso en otros sitios no pasa. Pero en este país, como a Todo el Mundo le gusta el fútbol, pues no importa quitar la mejor serie que tienen ahora mismo en emisión, ya que no le va a importar a nadie. ¿Pero sabéis que? Nadie me llamo el otro día diciendome que estaba tan indignado como yo y que estaba harto de que la cadenas de televisión asumieran lo que a él le importaba y lo que no.

I hate soccer. A lot. It hasn't always been this way, I didn't care so much before. Each one had his own life, without bothering the other. But everything started to go wrong when, because of some soccer games, they didn't air some F·R·I·E·N·D·S chapters. All of you here already know how much I like F·R·I·E·N·D·S and if you don't, you should check my blog and my space, because there is more than 2 posts about F·R·I·E·N·D·S. It all gets worse when it is the most popular sport in this country and nothing prevails if there is a game that is considered important. Like the other day. I will fill you in: wednesday, 21:45. As it is well known, that day at that hour, Tv3 airs Herois (Heroes in catalan). But in 05/30/07 Tv3 had a little surprise for us: a soccer game, Barça - Getafe, I think. And I say that because I did not stop to see who was playing I just saw that they weren't airing Herois, I became infuriated and turned off the TV. And I should be thankful that I have already seen Heroes, I don't want to imagine the trauma that have gone through the people who hasn't seen it, and they had to wait one week more to Spoiler! (haz click para verlo)see Hiro travel 6 moths into the past trying to save Charlie. Why do they have to do that? To remove something in order to air soccer. That doesn't happens in other places. But in this country, as Everyone likes soccer, it doesn't matter to remove the best series they have righ now in schedule, as Nobody won't care. But you know what? Nobody called me the other day saying that he was as infuriated as me and that he is annoyed because all the tv channels are always assuming the things he cares about and what he doesn't.
